Inca Stories "Woods Basket Weave"

Inca Stories "Woods Basket Weave"

Deep in the woods colour. Ridges and lacework run around the back perimeter and it is embellished with three tassels. The two side tassels are topped with a vintage button from my personal collection and a silver metal hand cut tube bead.

This is a beautiful combination of hand dyed wool, wool/hemp and a touch of cotton. This combination creates a lightweight yet warm hat. It is one of the few hats that I make that is totally crochet. She can be found at my 1000Markets shop. Http://DreamWoven.1000Markets.com

Inca Stories - "Fields 2"

About the hat:
A new field, furrowed, planted and now coming to fruition... these are the colours therein.... browns, russets, spring greens, coppers... this hat is full of details. Ridges and lacework run around the back perimeter and it is embellished with three tassels.

This is a beautiful combination of hand dyed Silk/Viscose blend, a lovely green Linen and a coppery Rayon. It is lightweight and warm. It is one of the few hats that I make that is totally crochet and this particular hat can be worn by those that can not tolerate wool.

Available for purchase at http://DreamWoven.1000Markets.com . More pictures can be seen at 1000 Markets or on my website http://DreamWoven.com

Inca "Winter" - for 2009!

Inca "Winter"

About the hat:

A simple beauty, but exquisitely full of details. Ridges and lacework run around the back perimeter and it is embellished with two tassels.

This is a beautiful, soft and luscious combination of the finest Alpaca, Silk and Merino in a lovely Cream color. Warm yet delicately light. It is one of the few hats that I make that is totally crochet and one of the few designs I will do in a solid colour.

The hat measures approx. 11" (27.9 cm) when laid flat (at the widest point and approx. 8" (20.3 cm) from top to the point right above the ridges. For reference, the mannequin head is 21" (53.3 cm). There is stretch due to its construction and it can fit a variety of sizes. My head measures approx. 24" with all of my hair and it fits wonderfully. Please measure your head and send me your measurements if you have a question about whether this hat will fit you.

It is a stunning statement, but remember....it can cause "Specialness" and you will always have to be ready for that!

Inca "Winter" is available through 1000Markets or my website.

2 Things.......

  • This Art for Your Head - Attitude Hat got bought yesterday.
  • FreeHat2 FreeHat1
It was bought by a woman who wanted to give it as a gift to the daughter of one of her co-workers. She is going to be starting a years worth of chemo and wanted her to have this... What a great woman she must be.... she is also a knitter and it makes me go all warm and gooey when there is a story like that behind a purchase.

  • My first ACEO card: (Available at DreamWoven.Etsy.com )
  • rubiayatfinis1This is the first ACEO in the series "Exotic Forays". There will not be another like it because each fiber piece will be different.

    "The Rubaiyat" by Omar Khayyam

This card is comprised of a delicate fiber paisley either crochet, knit or woven (or a combination) by me... It rests on a collage of moroccan tapestry and a partial illusration, as well as Stanza 47 of the Fitzgerald translation of Omar Khayyam's "The Rubaiyat", which reads:

"And if the Wine you drink, the Lip you press,
    End in what All begins and ends in -- Yes;
Think then you are To-day what Yesterday
You were -- To-morrow You shall not be less"

The entire collage is backed on to a 2.5" x 3.5" varnished piece of cherry wood that is 1/8" thick which was purchased from another etsy seller - RonH, whose shop can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=16067 .

The paisley crochet has been stitched to the collage, prior to backing it on the maple wood. If you really wanted to, it could be removed and used as a patch or pin

ACEO stands for Art Card Editions and Originals. The standard size is 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". That the ACEO is that size is the only requirement in making ACEO's.

This ACEO will come in a plastic sleeve.... but, due to its nature it is meant to be touched, not sealed away. It will be signed and dated on the back.
